Answer Your Callings

always answer your callings

Alaska had been calling me for quite some time and I knew I needed to answer.  I wasn't sure what was going to happen, how I was going to get there, or if I would even make it through Canada.

But I didn't care, because I knew if it was meant to be, it would be.

It was time to throw my fate to the wind and head out on another life adventure.  After countless hours of research, deliberation and planning, I decided to embark on this new journey.

It was just me, my dogs and a 1999 Chevy Suburban.

I didn't have room for much, but when you've packed your life into a suitcase before, you realize what the true essentials are.

This time, I had my mattress.

Since I was in no rush, I figured I might as well stop at some national parks along the way.  I made sure to visit Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons and Glacier National Park before making my way into foreign territory and not looking back.  Each park offers its own remarkable beauty and is a friendly reminder at how many powerful elements go into the geological formations of this planet.

Although staying in a hotel had its temptations, it also added additional complications and cost.  I decided I would be sleeping in my vehicle, parking somewhere new every night.  It not only allowed for me to find solitude, peace and reflection, it allowed a chance for the dogs to run free and get their sense of relief as well!

Hot temperatures and pesky mosquitoes made for some interesting struggles, but with all crappy circumstances comes a story and a memory worth having..

Since I had jam-packed the entire truck, the only way to even sleep was to remove enough boxes and belongings in order to expose a section of the mattress.  It was barely enough space to lay, but it made do.

Depending on my location and the threat of other creatures/weather, I would either place the items outside or re-arrange to fill the front seat.  This was quite a pain and a process in itself, as I had to do the exact opposite every morning.

Needless to say, it got me through the entire duration of the trip, and I even got to bathe in one of my waterfront locations!

Although getting through Canada was a battle of its own, I not only walked away with a very memorable story but have since received nothing but positive affirmation that I made the right decision by answering my calling.

Afterall, no risk, no reward.

Curious about what happened?

The moment I finally got clearance to cross the border was a moment I will never forget.

I felt like I had truly been born again.

I knew this was an opportunity in which I needed to prove myself, and that I was here for a reason.

So many things have since fallen into place and I have made connections where I least expected them.

It's this type of faith and trust that really gives the universe not just an opportunity to prove itself to you, but a chance to reward you for your efforts.

I cannot be more excited to continue on this journey, and I would love to share it with you.
